Established in 1926, Indian School of Mines (ISM) is situated in
Dhanbad,
Jharkhand. It is about 260 km from
Kolkata on the
Grand Chord Railway line.
Funded by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, the school imparts high quality education, along with a well-stocked library and good hostel facilities. It promotes scientific research on a planned basis in various fields. The institute has engineering courses in the fields of mining and geology.
Spread over an area of 88 hectares, the school has fully residential campus with all modern facilities. The traditional departments are enhanced by adding new branches of academic programs. Besides gratifying the mineral industry, new departments are established to cater other industries.
