Indian School of Martial Arts situated at
Vazhuthacaud, in the heart of
Thiruvananthapuram city, is an ideal training center for the 5000 year old martial art,
kalaripayattu. Established in 1983, the center is recognized by the Government of India and the Sports Council. It functions in a three storyed building and has a traditional arena built ten feet below the ground level, for practicing the kalari art. The center has a 600 year old massage table carved out of a single tree, meditation hall and a roof garden, which is the treasure house of herbs.
Simple accommodation and food are provided for guests and visitors. Ancient palm leaf manuscripts dealing with Kalarichikitsa are also seen in the center.
The nearest railway station and airport are situated at Thiruvananthapuram.
