Indian Military Academy is situated on the
Dehradun-
Chakrata Road, about 8 km from Dehradun, in
Uttaranchal. Established in 1932, it is a premier training institute for Army Officers. The academy, being the first training institute of its kind in this region, is considered as the archetypal military institute in the whole of the Indian subcontinent.
Indian Military Academy trains to inculcate the qualities such as camaraderie, team-spirit, and critical appreciation of a given or emerging instinct together with an inbuilt urge never to give-up. The individuals are trained to develop and acquire the character which helps them in the near or distant future to assume responsibility to see the country through the crisis.
The academy has a museum, library, shooting demonstration room and FRIMS golf course (18 holes).
Dehradun Railway Station is the nearest major railhead.
