Established in 1992, Indian Maritime College (IMC) in
Chennai is India's premier training institution in the maritime industry. Its thrust area is simulator-based training.
IMC has distinguished itself as the initiator of several major maritime courses in India and for having established the Liquid Cargo Handling Simulator for handling various kinds of cargo. The wide-range of pioneering simulator-based courses offered here include ROC (Radar Observer Course), ARPA (Automatic Radar Plotting Aids) Simulator Course, GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System), RANSCO (Radar, ARPA and Navigation Course), among others.
IMC gets technical assistance and training from Warsash Maritime Center, Southampton, UK. The Institute provides consultancy services for marine navigation, electronics, education, training and resource management.
