Established in 1971, Indian Institute of Geomagnetism in
Navi Mumbai is an autonomous research institute under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. It supplies geomagnetic data for diurnal corrections to the magnetic surveys undertaken by various organizations and provides special calibration facilities to Indian Navy and the Department of Space. The research activities undertaken here are classified into three categories including upper atmospheric geomagnetism, solid earth geomagnetism, and observatory data analysis. Library, instrumentation and computer services are available at the institute.
