The India Habitat Centre was formed to serve as a channel for a synergetic relationship between individuals and institutions working in divers’ habitat related areas. It promotes awareness with regard to environmental issues such as water, air, energy and its conservation, waste pollution and human waste management. The centre assists the government in the formation and implementation of policies related with environment. It conducts various levels of seminars, public debates and exhibitions and encourages education and research works. All relevant information related with habitat, human settlements and environmental issues are recorded for the future need.
The India Habitat Centre also offers various types of awards, prizes and scholarship for promoting environmental activities. It runs a Visual Art Gallery where exhibitions are conducted on relevant environmental problems. The India Habitat Centre also publishes a large number of books in connection with environment.
