Indasala Cave is a historic and beautiful cave located at the base of a sheer cliff in the Giriyek Mountain, a few km through Giriyek road in
Rajgir. This is said to be the spot where
Lord Buddha delivered his famous discourse, the Sakkapanha Sutta. It is commonly held that Buddha uttered the various verses of the Dhammapada here.
Visitors need to climb about 2 km east of the mountain to reach the cave. An ancient stupa named Hansa Stupa lies at the top of the mountain. Hiuen Tsang, the Chinese traveler, is said to have visited Indasala Cave in the course of his travels.
Patna Airport is the nearest airport and the nearby
railway station is at
Gaya.
