Imphal War Cemetery is a famous graveyard located at
Imphal West District in
Manipur. This is a memorial park of those Indian and Allied soldiers who laid their lives fighting against the Japanese during the siege of Imphal in 1944.
The Cemetery is placed in an open and flat area. The distant hills on the eastern side add a scenic background to the cemetery. The war cemetery contains 1,300 British burials, 10 Canadian, five Australian, 220 Indian, 40 East African, and 10 each from Burma and West Africa. These graves are marked by bronze plaques.
