Located far inside the countryside off
Channapatna, Igglur is an ideal picnic spot in
Bangalore Rural District. It is famous for the dam constructed across the
Shimsha River. There is also a scope of boating on a country made small boat.
A variety of birds migrate here for nesting and roosting along the banks of the reservoir. On the river bank is the newly renovated temple of Someshwara, the village deity of Igglur. There are also some remains of the temples built during the Chola and Vijayanagara period.
Igglur is well connected by buses from Channapatna.
