Idaiyattrunathar Temple




Idaiyattrunathar Temple lies in the small village of Idaiyaru which is at a distance of 6 miles from Tiruvennainallur, between Tirukkovilur and Tiruvennainallur in Thiruvannamalai District, Tamil Nadu. The presiding deity of this Shivasthalam is Idaiyatreesar, facing west. There is a shrine for Goddess Sitridainayaki, facing east. Inscriptions from the Chola, Pandya and Vijayanagar periods are found in the temple. The main festival celebrated here is in the month of Thai (mid January - mid February). Other important festivals are Pankuni Uthiram and Arudra Darisanam. The nearest railhead is the Tiruvennainallur railway station, at a distance of 5 km.
