Ialong

Perched on a tableland, Ialong is one of the oldest village in Jaintia Hills District. It is 8 km from Jowai on the National Highway 44 (Jowai - Badarpur Road.)

A beautiful sacred grove, Khloo Lyngdoh Ialong, located within the village is the prominent attraction. There are remains of an ancient boulder-fortress inside the grove, where the soldiers of the Jaintia King were garrisoned.

There is also a small lake overlooking the flat paddy fields on either side of the Myntdu River, which flows at the foot of the tableland.
