Himroo weaving originated in Aurangabad, which was formerly a part of Hyderabad state, but is now in
Maharashtra. This artwork is still prevalent and is a traditional occupation in
Andhra Pradesh.
This technique uses a special loom, with cotton yarn forming the warp and silk yarn forming the weft, to produce a brocade-like fabric used mainly for shawls, bedspreads and furnishing.
Himroo weaving is found near Dar-Ul-Shifa in the old city of Hyderabad.
