A revolutionary Kannada poet of the 13th century, Harihara introduced a new metrical form termed 'Ragale' through his short descriptive poems. In most of his narrations, central characters are common people such as hunter, potter, and cobbler.
Harihara’s most popular work 'Madara Channaiahna Ragale' is considered as one of the boldest writings in Kannada literature. 'Basavajadevara Ragale,' 'Nambiyannana Ragale,' and 'Pushpa Ragale' are his other renowned works.
