Hari Narayan Apte

Pioneer of Marathi novel



Hari Narayan Apte (1864-1919), a Marathi writer, was the founder-editor of the periodical 'Karamnuk.' He is the author of a number of short-stories, essays, biographical sketches, poems, novels, and translations. Most of his novels depict contemporary society in a realistic mode. 'Madhali Sthiti' and 'Ushankala' are his major works.
