Har Navami, which falls on the 9th day of the bright fortnight of Har (June-July), is the birthday of Goddess Sharika, an incarnation of
Goddess Durga.
The people of Jammu and Kashmir celebrate Har Navami amidst much pomp and splendor. Thousands of people visit the Sharika Devi Temple, situated on the Hari Parvat Hill in Srinagar, during the festival.
