Hamsala Devi is situated at about 85 km from
Vijayawada in
Krishna district. It is 5 km away from this place where
Krishna River converges into the
Bay of Bengal.
Hamsala is an important religious centre in the district and it is considered as a sacred place of pilgrimage, being the confluence of the Krishna and the sea.
Hamsala Devi is also famous for the Shrine of Venugopalaswami which was constructed by the Chola Kings. A festival celebrated in honor of this deity for eight days from Magha Suddha Navami to Bahula Padyami attracts thousands of pilgrims even from other states.
The domestic airport located at Gannavaram connects Vijayawada to other important destinations. Vijayawada Junction Railway Station is the largest railway junction of the
South Central Railway.
