Hakimpur




Hakimpur, a remote village close to the India-Bangladesh border, is in the Swarupnagar block of North 24 Parganas District, West Bengal. It is situated about 92 km north-east of Kolkata. Here, India and Bangladesh are separated by the Sonai river.

This village is the birth place of Maulana Mohammad Akram Khan, a famous journalist, politician and Islamic scholar.

State buses ply between Kolkata and Hakimpur. The nearest railway station is Barasat Railway Station. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport is the closest airport.
