Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya was established in 1902 by Swami Shraddhanandaji near
Haridwar in
Uttaranchal. It seeks to revive the ancient Indian gurukula (boarding at guru's residence) system of education. It has earned the status of a deemed university from the
University Grants Commission (UGC). A member of the Association of Comonwealth Universities, it received a 4-star rating from the National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC).
The Vishwavidyalaya offers regular courses in Arts, Humanities, Sciences, Technology and Management in different locations around a sprawling campus. Classes and further research in Oriental studies, Vedic literature and sciences, Indian philosophy and culture are facilitated. The large library here holds rare and ancient texts. An Archeological museum, a pharmacy with natural therapy and online acesssibility are other highlights.
