Gurdwara Shikar Ghat Sahib is a highly revered Sikh shrine located on a low hill at
Nanded, in
Maharashtra. It is about 6 km from Takhat Sahib by road, across a bridge built over
Godavari River.
The present building complex was rebuilt by Baba Jiwan Singh and Baba Dalip Singh during the 1960s and early 1970s. Guru Granth Sahib is seated on a canopied throne of white marble, in the middle of a square hall which has its walls garnished with white marble slabs - even the pinnacle with white glazed tiles. There is a dome over the sanctum, above the hall, and decorative dome-lets adorn the length of the walls. The entire exterior from the base up to the top of the dome is embellished with white marble slabs, even the pinnacle is of white marble.
Legend associated with the shrine is that Guru Gobind Singh came here chasing a rabbit and killed the rabbit, which in the former birth was Bhai Mula, a Sikh contemporary of Guru Nanak Dev.
Gurdwara Shikar Ghat Sahib is frequented by thousands of devotees from far and near.
Nearest domestic airport is Aurangabad Airport (260 km). Nanded Railway Station, served by the South Central Railways, is the nearest railhead.
