Gurdwara Majnu-ka-Tila

Gurdwara Majnu-ka-Tila is situated opposite of Timarpur Colony, on the right bank of the Yamuna River in New Delhi. Devotees believe that this Gurdwara was the center of a Muslim saint who helped people to cross the river, free of charge, in his boat. It is said that the saint gained enlightenment with the blessings from the founder of the Sikh faith, Guru Nanak. The hermitage of the saint, positioned on a hillock, came to be known as Majnu-ka-Tilla, which literally means the hillock of Majnu.
