Gurdwara Hira Ghat Sahib




Gurdwara Hira Ghat Sahib is a highly revered Sikh shrine situated about 9 km downstream from Nanded, in Maharashtra. It was the place where Guru Gobind Singh first pitched his tents right on the banks of Godavari River.

Legend associated with the shrine is that it was here the emperor Bahadur Shah presented a bira (diamond) to Guru Gobind Singh which he flung into the river. When Bahadur Shah looked in to the river he was amazed on seeing heaps of diamonds in the river where the diamond fall.

Gurdwara Hira Ghat Sahib is frequented by thousands of devotees from far and near.

Nearest domestic airport is Aurangabad Airport (260 km). Nanded Railway Station, served by the South Central Railways, is the nearest railhead.
