Guler, earliest center of painting, is on the south of
Kangra. It was founded by Raja Hari Chand, the ruler of Kangra, in 1405. There are several old temples, remains of a fort and remarkable city gates.
Guler has an important role in the development of Pahari painting. Haripur is a nearby place worth visiting.
