Gujjar is a tribe widely found in the state of
Jammu and Kashmir. This nomadic class lives in tune with nature rather than following an ordered life. They are largely found in kacha houses on the slopes and foothills of the
Himalayas. Gujjar share a lot in common with
Bakerwals, another nomadic tribe in the region. These two tribes share a common root.
Gujjar are a tough and hardy people. Gojri is the language spoken by this tribe.
Men wear waist coat, shalwar, kurta (long shirt) and lungi (turban). Women wear sutthan (trouser), kurti (shirt) and tazakastani - cap with cotton shawl.
