Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation is a passenger transport organization run by the state government, providing bus services both within Gujarat and the neighboring states. The GSRTC has its central office in the industrial city of
Ahmedabad.
The GSRTC came into existence on May 1, 1960, on the formation of Gujarat. From a modest beginning with 7 divisions, 76 depots and 7 divisional workshops and a fleet of 1,767 buses, the GSRTC by now has grown to own 16 Divisions, 132 Depots, 226 bus stations and 8,500 buses. Its functional versatility also owes a lot to its technical infrastructure that comprises of a three level maintenance and repair facility, 7 tyre retreading plants, a body building unit and a printing press.
GSRTC's 'Mofussil Services' connect major cities, smaller towns and villages within Gujarat. The ‘Intercity Services’ are exclusively for providing a quick connection to major cities that include Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Rajkot., The ‘Interstate Service’ buses ply to major destinations in the neighboring states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan. Parcel Services are available for transporting goods.
City services of the GSRTC provide city bus services in the cities of Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Gandhinagar, and Ahmedabad.
