Gugga Dance is a ritualistic dance of
Haryana. It is performed during Gugga Naumi and is exclusively played by men around the grave of saint Gugga, who is believed to be the protector of snake and animal life. Though inclusive of simple steps, this dance evokes spiritual fervor among the devotees of Gugga. As the tempo rose, the performers shed tears and beat their chest with iron chains. The musical instruments such as
Dholak,
Manjiras,
Deru, and cymbals form the major accompaniments of the dance.
