Guddattu Sri Vinayaka Temple is situated at Guddattu near
Kundapur in
Udupi District. It stands close to a huge granite rock that resembles an elephant. The main deity of the temple is
Lord Ganesh, which is in the sitting position. It is believed that the idol of Ganesh appeared itself near the rock.
Two special types of offerings are made in the temple. One is called Ayurkoda Abhisheka, in which the idol is bathed in one thousand pots of water. The second one is the Akki Kadubu Seve, in which a special dish is prepared using 480 kg of rice and 240 kg of common pulse.
On occasions like Ganesh Chaturthi and Sankashtahara Chowthi, people gather in large numbers to worship the deity.
