Gowlan is lesser-known tribe found primarily in
Amaravati District of
Maharashtra. A few people are settled in the state of
Karnataka. They speak a dialect known as 'Gowlan', a member of the
Indo-Aryan language.
Some of these tribes live among the Korku Tribe. Gowlans are agricultural people. The tribe members also engage in the raising of livestock. They follow endogamous (marriages within the same clan) marriage system.
They practice some type of ethnic religion. The villagers believe in living things and inanimate objects, and are involved in ancestor worship. They also worship Brahma, Shiva, Vishnu and Shakti.
