Govideshwar Gufa and Temple is situated at
Omkareshwar in
Khandwa District of
Madhya Pradesh. Jagatguru Adi Shankracharya took his Diksha and scriptural education at this place. The gufa (cave) is where Guru Govindpad resided and performed penances.
Both the Gufa and the temple were renovated in 1989 to maintain the excellent carvings on the columns and roof. The roof of the gufa has excellent carving of different designs. To maintain the Gufa and the temple, a separate trust has been founded under the patronage of Shri Shankracharya Swamigal Srimatam Samnsthanam, Kanchipuram.
