Government College
Kariavattom was started as a graduate section of the University College,
Thiruvananthapuram in 1993, with only the first year classes of B.A. Degree courses. Kerala University granted fresh affiliation to the college in August 1997, with B.Sc courses in computer science, biotechnology, biochemistry and statistics. The B.Sc Computer Science and Biotechnology are semester courses, and B.Sc Biochemistry and Statistics are of the annual system. The formal inauguration of the new college was on 3rd July 1998.
