Gopikandar is located on Dumka-Pakaur road near Tharia Pani hot water spring. It is a taluk headquarters of Dumka District in Jharkhand and is close to the district’s border with Godda District.
Dumka, the district headquarters, is nearly 35 km south-west and Maluti, a historically important place famous for its temples built in Shikhara and Bengali styles, is about 25 km north.
Jasidih Junction Railway Station and Jamtara Railway Station are convenient access points. Gaya Airport and Patna Airport serve Gopikandar.
