Gopiballabhapur/Gopilballavpur is a village situated on the bank of the
Subarnarekha River in
Midnapore District. This village lies closer to the border of
Orissa and is about 240 km southwest of
Kolkata. The main attraction here is the house of Nandanandanan Deva, a priest, where the neck beads of Rasikananda Prabhu, the
Srimad Bhagavatam he used, his pot, tilak, three bamboo flutes and many hand written manuscripts of Vaishnava literature are preserved. Shri Rasikananda Prabhu, also known as Rasika Murari, was the chief disciple of Shri Syamananda Prabhu. There is a Kshira Chora Gopinatha Temple and a puspa
samadhi of Shri Rasikananda Prabhu at this place.
By rail, Gopiballabhapur can be reached by getting down at Sardeha (16 miles away). From Sardeha, take a bus to the last bus stop and from there it is 8 km to the Subarnarekha River. Ferry services are available across the Subarnarekha River to Gopiballabhapur.
