Gohils are the only Sisodia clan to who have held a sway in
Gujarat for a long period. Originally from Khergarh, in Mewar, they migrated to Gujarat after been driven out from Khergarh by the Rathore rulers. They established their kingdom on the southwestern part of
Saurashtra, on the shores of the Gulf of Khambat, in where now called
Bhavnagar. The Gohil rulers had heroically resisted Muslim rule and the subjugation from other rulers.
Gopnath Bungalow, located at Gopnath, was once the pleasant sea-shore retreat of Gohil rulers of Bhavnagar and is built in European colonial style.
