Gnanaparameswarar-Palaasa Vanesar Temple




Gnanaparameswarar-Palaasa Vanesar Temple is situated at Tirunaalur in Thanjavur District. It is 15 km from Kumbakonam. The presiding deity is Lord Shiva known by the name Gnanaparameswarar. There is a separate worship place for Goddess Gnanambika. The temple theertham is Chandra Theertham. Saints Sambandar and Appar have glorified this temple through their pathigams. Kartikai Deepam and Mahashivaratri are the main festivals celebrated here. An ancient temple known as Gnanapureeswarar temple, built by Kulotthunga II, is situated nearby.
