Ghatigaon Wildlife Sanctuary, established in 1981, is situated in
Gwalior District,
Madhya Pradesh. Spread over an area of 511 sq km, it is a natural habitat for a variety of flora and fauna. The main aim of the sanctuary is to protect the
Great Indian Bustard. It is also referred as the Great Indian Bustard Sanctuary.
Among the animal species found here include black buck, chital, blue bull, wild boar and hyena. It is also home to a variety of birds including herons, egrets and spoonbills. Large number of migratory birds arrives here during seasons.
The best time to visit the sanctuary is from November to June.
The nearest airport is at Gwalior. Gwalior Railway Station is the nearest railhead. The sanctuary can be reached from the Gwalior Bus Station.
