Ghandabheranda Pillar




The Ghandabheranda Pillar, located in Shikarpur village, is a tall monolith with a figure of Ghandabheranda at the top. The height of the shaft up to the cornice is over 30 feet. Its circular body is same in diameter with decorative bands, barring almost 13 sq ft that forms its base. The Bherandesara at the top is 4 feet tall. The figure is represented in a composite form with a human body and two eagle heads. According to an epigraph found at its base, the pillar was erected by Chamunda Raya in 1047.
