Ghagrapar is situated in the easternmost part of
Assam's central district
Nalbari. The town derives its name from the Ghagra River on which it is located. It is bounded by Tamulpur and Baska in the north, Borbhag in the south,
Nalbari in the west and Rangia of rural
Kamrup District in the east. Two tributaries of the
Brahmaputra, Pagaldia and Nona, drain respectively the western and eastern sides of the town.
Ghagrapar is easily accessible by road and rail. Ghagrapar is 48 km from Guwahati and 62 km from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. A railway station established during the early days of British rule serves the town.
