The traditional metal craftsmen belonging to
Bastar District of
Chhattisgarh are known as Ghadwa.
These craftsmen are mostly involved in making utensils for daily use. They also design and make jewelry and idols of local deities. The product range also includes votive figures of snakes, elephants, horses and ‘kalash’ (the ritual pot used for offerings). Recent additions to their product list include birds, animals and dancing figures.
