Gavimutha Mutt




Gavimutha is an old and noted Veerashaiva Mutt situated close to Koppal Parshwanath Basadi at Koppal. The vicinity of this mutt was once the center of Jaina and Veerashaiva religion and culture. Gavimutha is associated with a saint called Gavisiddeshwara, from where an Ashoka edict was excavated. Around the mutt lie several Jain idols and inscriptions which have great archeological importance.
