Gavilgad Fort is located in
Amaravati District of
Maharashtra and lies near
Chikhaldara. Constructed over 300 hundred ago, this fort was controlled by the Hindu and Mughal rulers.
Gavilgad Fort features beautifully carved sculptures, believed to be made during the period of the Nizams. There are 10 cannons in the fort, made of iron, copper and brass. Within the fort lie two lakes - Bamnitaloa and Khambtaloa. The fort is in a dilapidated state now.
