Gaura Devi Temple

Gaura Devi Temple is situated at Devalgarh, a small town in Pauri Garhwal District of Uttaranchal. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Gauri. The deity is known by the name Raj Rajeshwari.

This ancient place of worship is believed to have been built by Lord Kubera. It contains some fine pieces of sculpture. Added to that is the splendid view of the Himalayas that one gets from the premises of this temple. An annual fair is held in honor of the goddess. Adjoining the temple is a huge boulder called Som-Ki-Danda, which contains inscriptions in the Pali language. These inscriptions were made by the erstwhile rulers of Dewalgarh.
