Gaumukh Glacier lies about 18 km uphill from
Gangotri, in
Uttaranchal. Situated at an altitude of 4,255 m above sea level, it is the source of
Ganges River . There are magnificent peaks at the backdrop of the glacier. The Gaumukh Glacier is held in high esteem by the devotees who take a holy dip in the bone chilling icy water.
