Gaulan Kalo is a folk theatre form native to
Goa. This drama depicts the various episodes from the life of
Lord Krishna. It is performed in the temple premises during festivals.
The scenes of the play include Lord Krishna’s childhood pranks, his love life, his acts of valor like killing of the serpent named ‘Kalia’ and the demons like ‘Putna.’ Apart from Lord Krishna other characters in the play include Radha, gopis, the peasant boys (his childhood friends) and the residents of Vrindavan (the place where Lord Krishna was believed to have spent his childhood).
