Gauchar is a tourist destination situated on the banks of the famous
Alaknanda River. This place is about 21 km from
Rudraprayag in
Uttaranchal. The major tourist destinations including
Rishikesh,
Dehradun and
Haridwar are easily accessible.
The hilly terrain is an interesting spot for trekkers. Every year on November 14, a big trade fair is held here, which is attended by many. The flat lands at Gauchar are used for landing helicopters and planes. An airstrip is being constructed here. Gauchar houses numerous hotels which offer comfortable accommodation.
Rishikesh Railway Station is the nearest railhead (164 km).
