Ganj Peth, formerly Muzaffarjang, is a residential area located in
Pune,
Maharashtra. It was occupied in the rule of Sawai Madhavrao Peshwa.
The famous social reformer Mahatma Jyotirao Phule resided here during the 19th century. He opened the first school for women and backward class people in Ganj Peth, where he used to stay. This building is now known as Rashtriya Smarak.
Today the place is a famous commercial center predominated by the traders and weavers of the region.
