Gangodbhawa Kund

Gangodbhawa Kund, also spelt Gangodbhav Kund, is a naturally fed reservoir located at the Maha Sati, the cremation place for Udaipur’s rulers, in Ahar. It is believed that this large and old square water tank contain pure, Ganges-like water. Close to this kund is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

There are many myths about the origin of this kund. Some people claim that a tributary of the Ganges, flowing underground, emerges here to become the Ahar River. According to some others, the ancient chhatri situated in this kund is the memorial of Gandharva Sen, the father of Vikramaditya of Malwa.
