Gandhamardan is a highly revered hill in
Baragarh District of
Orissa. The hill is also famous for medicinal herbs and forms a part of the Eastern Ghats.
The hill is of historic importance as it was once a seat of Buddhist culture. There are many ruins found on the plateau at the hilltop. According to mythology, this was a part of the hill which Lord Hanuman carried on his shoulders from Himalayas to save the life of Lakshman.
At the foot of the northern slope of the hill lies the famous Vidala Nrusimhanath Temple. On the southern slope of this hill is the famous Harishankar Temple.
