Galaganatha is a small village located in
Haveri District of
Karnataka. It is renowned as the birthplace of the first Kannada novelist, Galaganatha. It is recorded in numerous inscriptions that Galaganatha was formerly known as Palluni.
The Tunga and Varada rivers join at this place. It is believed that people will get rid of all sins by taking bath here during Makar Sankranti. During the festival, community yatras are held here.
The major attraction is the Galageshwara temple, built around 11th century, in Chalukyan style of architecture.
It is about 40 km from Haveri. Haveri Railway Station is the nearest railway station.
