Gadpahra is a charming rural area situated around 10 km north of
Sagar on the
Jhansi Road in
Madhya Pradesh. Also known as Old Sagar, it was the capital of the Dangi Kingdom.
Gadpahra has some of the historical remnants such as a fort build on a low range of hills and remains of a summer residence called Shish Mahal or Glass Palace of the Dangi rulers. The Shish Mahal is a square building and resembles like a Muslim tomb. The glassed tiles of various colors fixed alternatively in the panel of the battlement and in the ribbing of the domes are eye-catching.
