Fatima Mata National College was founded by His Lordship the late Rt. Rev. Dr Jerome M. Fernandez D.D, the then Bishop of
Kollam with a view to expand the facilities for higher education in the diocese. The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the faculties of economics, chemistry, mathematics, physics, history,
malayalam, and commerce along with B.Sc courses in bio-technology, computer science, and BCA. An institute accredited at the 4 star levels by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, it also holds the distinction of being the first college under the Kerala University to start a degree course in polymer chemistry. Other facilities in the campus include an open access library, English language laboratory, hockey stadium, commerce research center, and state of the art laboratories.
