Fathgarh Temple

Fathgarh Temple is situated at Fathgarh, 3 miles from Baramulla, in Baramulla District of Jammu and Kashmir. The temple is an ancient one and some parts of it have already become ruins in the course of its long existence. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

This large temple is about 28'9" square internally. There is a shivling placed in the cellar which is adorned with a torus moulding. The front elevation of the platform is decorated with two rows of trefoiled niches. The specialty of the temple lies in its ceiling, which is straight-lined and triangular in section as in the Narastan temple. There are artistic works found in the cellar. The temple with open doorway facing in the north-western direction has a particularly massive appearance. There is a brick well in the south-east corner of the area. Now, the temple is more or less in a dilapidated state.
